Current Position and the Contribution of My Planning Studies
I am the Head of Strategy and Development at Bridge to the Future, a non-profit focused on urban and community development, public policy, and strategic planning in partnership with local authorities, government agencies, and civil society organizations. My work includes leading processes in urban regeneration, regional development, and local economic and community development, connecting policy and planning with practical action.
My studies at the Technion gave me the ability to approach social and economic challenges from a spatial and systemic perspective, understand the relationships between different stakeholders and interests, and connect strategic thinking with practical tools for change. The program broadened my understanding that planning is not only about the physical environment, but also about the people, institutions, and relationships that shape it.
Why Urban and Regional Planning?
I was drawn to urban and regional planning by my interest in the connections between public policy, society, and space, and by a desire to understand how we can influence the development of cities and regions and improve residents' quality of life. I was looking for a field that combines broad, interdisciplinary thinking with practical action. The Technion's planning program offered exactly that combination, bringing together academic knowledge, an understanding of public systems, and a future-oriented perspective.
My Advice to Those Considering a Career in Planning
Do not think of urban planning only as a profession concerned with plans, maps, and buildings. Planning is also a way to understand how society works and how we can shape the world around us. My advice is to spend time in the field, listen to the people who live there, and develop the ability to work with a wide range of partners. Good planning requires not only vision and professional knowledge, but also an understanding of social processes, the ability to bring people together, and the patience to create long-term change.
