Concluding studio devoted to strategic planning at regional level. In the studio, students learn about the difference between comprehensive spatial plans versus selective strategic plans. They develop plans that focus on (a small set) of issues, while linking long-term thinking with a strategy for action ‘on the ground’. In their plans, they address one or more challenges in a region, or build on and strengthen unique regional opportunities. For this purpose, they analyze trends in the region, learn from foreign examples, identify strategic interventions, and merge this into a plan that sets out a long-term vision and proposes steps for short-term action, all while realizing that plans have to invite and convince other stakeholders to work towards the same shared goal for the plan to succeed.
